The name Tony means worthy of praise. The name Tony Pua may not have a definite dictionary meaning but to all it certainly means someone who spells success. A self-made Internet millionaire, Tony Pua left his high-flying career to follow his calling – politics.

He joined DAP in 2007 and in 2008, he contested for the Parliamentary constituency of Petaling Jaya Utara against incumbent Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun of the MCA which saw him as a victor. 2009 further saw this young lad as the DAP member of the Pakatan Rakyat committee on the Ministry of Higher Education.

For someone who had a successful business, the shift to politics was purely based on passion. Many were surprised of his decision but they recognized the sacrifice made by him. He wanted a shift in the system and a shift is only possible if he himself take the bull by its horns.

“I have always loved politics and leaders like Lim Kit Sing and Karpal Singh inspires me a lot,” said Tony.

Shedding politics away, Tony is just about any regular bloke. He loves comics and has even splurged on them.

“Yup, I have shamefully spent a lot on superhero comics”, said Tony with that unmistakable sheepish smile.
